Cascais

Spring light on the Atlantic coast: a studio day, then two days painting the harbour and the bay.

We start indoors, with the ideas behind a landscape: what to keep, what to leave out, and how a simple sketch and a few tonal values already decide the painting.

Then we go outside. Cascais gives us a fishing harbour, white façades and wide Atlantic skies — perfect subjects to practise reading a scene quickly and turning it into a clear, atmospheric watercolor.
